Local Presence Service (Use GMO address for registrant)
General-Use .jp (.jp)
-
Is local presence required for General-Use .jp (.jp) domain name registration?
Yes, local Japanese address is required for registrant information. For other contacts, local Japanese address is not required.
-
My customer does not have a local presence in Japan. What should I do?
If your customer does not have a local presence in Japan, they may use our postal address for REGISTRANT information while their domains are managed by our JP-DRS service. Our postal address MUST NOT be used for any other contacts such as PUBLIC CONTACT since non-Japanese address is allowed to be used for those contacts, and therefore we offer our local presence service only for registrant information.
-
Can my customers transfer their domains out if they are using the local presence service?
Basically, no. Your customers will have to remove our company's postal address from REGISTRANT information of the domains before they initiate transfer for the domains.
-
It seems transfer-out requests for my customer's domain keep getting rejected instantly. I confirmed that the domain's REGISTRANT is not using the local presence service. What's the problem?
Although it is not allowed, some domains are using our company's postal address for their PUBLIC CONTACT. Please check the domain's PUBLIC CONTACT information and if it's using our company's postal address, please update it to a different address. Otherwise, transfer-out requests will automatically be rejected by our system. PUBLIC CONTACT does not have to be located in Japan and non-Japanese address is also accepted. Please note that the information won't be disclosed in the public Whois if you choose a country code in EEA.
-
My customer is planning to transfer their domains to a JP-DRS partner. Do they have to update their REGISTRANT information before they initiate transfer?
If your customers are planning to transfer the domains to any other JP-DRS partner, they will not have to remove our company's postal address since we provide the same service to all our JP-DRS partners and their customers may use our company's postal address for their REGISTRANT information.
